Thomas “Woody” John Woodward of West Hartford, CT, passed away at home on April 4, 2019. He was born in New Haven, CT on July 30, 1952, to Odell Woodward (née Mosley) and TJ Woodward. He grew up in Branford, CT, and had a strong connection to the Connecticut shoreline. His eldest sister, Aleta Gayle Woodward, passed away in 1987 in California. He met his wife Diane “De” Woodward (née Eamiello), in Winsted, CT, and they were best friend for over forty-six years. He leaves behind De, his four children Amber, Nicholas, Carly and Gregory Woodward, daughter-in-law Kelly Woodward (née Sessions), and sister Margot Barnett (née Woodward). He was known affectionately as Poppi by his two grandsons, Charles and Henry Woodward. Woody had a long career in the warehouse industry, working at Heublein, Finast/Edwards, Coca Cola, and completing his professional career at Unipharm, where he was a warehouse manager for five years. Woody had a baritone voice and hardy laugh. He loved to be surrounded by family and friends. He welcomed everyone to his dinner table, where he always made enough food to feed an army. His passions included experimenting with new recipes, grilling, camping at Burlingame State Park, the New York Yankees, and live jazz. Loving, supportive, and the funniest guy we knew. Best dad ever!
Services will be held Friday April 12 at 12 p.m. at St James Episcopal Church, 1018 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT 06107. Reception to follow at 2 p.m. at 16 Tobey Rd, Bloomfield, CT, 06002. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET) college savings fund for Charles and Henry Woodward.
