Suzanne Warner

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Suzanne Warner, 71, of Clinton, CT, on January 12, 2025.

Suzanne was born on July 20, 1953, to Reginald and Arlene Dobbin. She grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and family alongside her siblings, Melissa Walden, Jonathan Dobbin, and Jennifer Hartnett.

Suzanne met her soulmate, Richard Warner while working as a service writer at a Dodge dealership in Meriden. The two were married on June 7, 1986, and shared a beautiful life together until Richard's passing in 2007. She later worked at Aetna as an accountant and drove a commuter van for the company, earning admiration for her dedication and warmth. Her career was filled with moments of satisfaction, and connections with colleagues.

A woman of many talents and passions, Suzanne loved being near the water. She cherished long weekends boating, trips to Block Island, and enjoying meals along the shore. She expressed her creativity through knitting, crocheting, and decorating cakes for every occasion. Suzanne was also known for her love of entertaining, her home was always open to friends and family, creating unforgettable moments filled with joy and laughter.

Suzanne was an active and devoted member of St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Clinton. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her charitable acts and connection to her community. She had a remarkable ability to bring light to others, always greeting everyone with a smile, even during her most challenging times. Her family fondly remembers her cheering for the New York Giants in honor of her late husband, reminiscing about her lifeguard days, and enjoying festive Halloween parties.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Gerald Gillanders (Norman, OK), Heather D’Antonio (East Hampton, CT), Samantha Gibson (Myrtle Beach, SC), and Dara Gillanders (Noble, OK). Her beloved grandchildren include Aurora Gibson, Ember Gibson, and Richard Gibson, all of Myrtle Beach, SC. Suzanne also leaves behind her siblings Melissa Walden (Lithia, FL), Jonathan Dobbin (Madison, CT), and Jennifer Hartnett (Cromwell, CT), as well as extended family members William Warner (Higganum, CT), Robert Warner (East Hampton, CT), Dean Warner (Ellenton, FL), and Sherilyn D’Erocle (Bradenton, FL).

Suzanne was predeceased by her husband, Richard Warner (December 13, 2007), and her parents, Reginald Dobbin (April 7, 2011) and Arlene Dobbin (March 4, 2021).

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 54 Grove St, Clinton, CT 06413. A short reception will follow the service at the church before the graveside service.

The graveside service will take place at Union Hill Cemetery, Route 151, East Hampton (Cobalt), CT 06456, where Suzanne will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Richard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Suzanne’s honor to the American Cancer Societywww.cancer.org.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Suzanne’s friends, caregivers, and the community at St. Mary Church of the Visitation for their unwavering love and support.
