Sonya Richelle Curry




Sonya Richelle Curry passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025 at the age of 56 in Waterford, Connecticut. She was born on April 27, 1968 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Orbert J Curry and Christeen Curry of Rye, Arkansas. 

Sonya is survived by her loving daughter, Lauren Curry-Castle (Norwich, CT). Her twin sister Tonya Curry (Wethersfield, CT) her sisters Angela Mondragon (Conway, AR) and Megan (Andrew) Wells (Little Rock, AR). Two nieces Miranda and Mariah Curry (both of Norwich, CT). Four nephews Danny (Jannette) Brickey (Little Rock, AR), Joel Brickey (White Hall, AR), Jesse Mondragon (Conway, AR) and Sebastian Wells (Little Rock, AR). Two great nieces and three great nephews.

Sonya was a 1986 graduate of Pratt High School in Pratt, Kansas. Known as a “Jill of All Trades” she pursued a variety of interests and skills throughout her life. After high school, she attended dental hygiene assistant school and later proudly served in the United States Air Force, graduate of 1992.

Sonya built a long and fulfilling career in maintenance, housekeeping, and janitorial work, contributing her expertise to diverse environments, including manufacturing plants and college universities. Most recently, she served as the housekeeping supervisor at Sheffield Pharmaceuticals, a role she held with great pride and dedication.

Sonya had a passion for gardening and landscaping, grilling for her family, and listening to music. She loved to make people laugh, spend time by the ocean, and, most importantly, worshipping God. She was incredibly kind-hearted and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

My dear Sonya. Many a day we shared at church. Your kind heart and transparency was your best characteristics. This earth has lost a beautiful person and the heavens has gained one.
