Rose Derwitsch Reder




Rose Derwitsch Reder of Torrington CT, passed away on Monday, December 4th, at the age of 88. Rose was born in Alt Werbas, Yugoslavia on September 9th, 1935. A daughter of the late Mustafa and Elizabeth Derwitsch, she came to this country in 1951 by escaping a communist concentration camp with her mother, father, and seven brothers and sisters. She married the love of her life, Charles K. Reder, having three children, Rosemary, Gregory, and Gary. The highlight of Rose’s life has always been spending time with her family and friends. She loved to sing with the Belles and Beaux and in the church choir with her husband Charlie. She and her husband owned Rosemarys Natural Foods in Torrington. Rose loved her flowers and plants. She was beloved by everyone. 

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Charles K. Reder, and her sons Gregory and Gary Reder. She leaves two brothers, Adolph (Joan) and Paul (Barbara) Derwitsch, her daughter Rosemary Reder, her grandchildren, Robin Reeve, and wife Kathleen, Shaun Czapor and partner Erika, Benjamin Reder, Lily Reder, Kelly Reder Love,  and her great grandchildren, Jordan, Isabella, Angelo, Hailey, Isaiah, Jackson, and one on the way, Brooklyn. 

Please join us in celebrating Rose’s life this Saturday Dec 16, 2023 with burial at 10:00 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery, 76 Walnut St., Torrington, CT followed by an 11:00 a.m. service at the First Congregational Church, 835 Riverside Ave., Torrington, CT. Light lunch to follow.

One of the brightest stars that has ever shined. Her history and story is remarkable, just as the woman she was in life. She will be missed my many and although she was nearly 90 years old, she was still gone before her time. I'm happy to know she is at peace and got to see so much of her family in her final days. - Robin
