Robert (Bob) J. Mitchell, 75, of Middletown, CT, entered into eternal life on October 6, 2020 at Middlesex Hospital following a courageous 20 year battle with Huntington’s Disease. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Koba) Mitchell for 43 years. Bob was born in Hartford, CT on December 17, 1944, to Gerald and Edna (Bell) Mitchell. He grew up in Southington and graduated from Southington High School, class of 1962. He proudly enlisted in the Navy. He was a salesman, employed by Hartford Containers for many years. He enjoyed traveling and camping. He was a loving husband and father, completely devoted to his family and eagerly participated in all of his children’s activities. He always took pride working around his home and yard, and no project was too challenging to tackle.
In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Eric) Babbitt, and his son, Robert (RJ) J. Mitchell, Jr., as well as his three grandchildren, Spencer, Noelle and Zoey Babbitt, all of whom brought him continual joy. He also leaves two brothers, Gerald (Maria) Mitchell and Thomas Mitchell; a sister-in-law, Sandra Koba; a brother-in-law, Larry Brophy; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David Mitchell, his sister, Gail Brophy, his niece, Molly Mitchell, and his brother-in-law, Donald Koba.
A visitation will be held Saturday October 17, 2020 from 9:00am – 10:00am at St Colman Church, 145 Hubbard Street, Middlefield, CT. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00am. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Guests are requested to wear masks and practice social distancing.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at Wadsworth Glen Health Care for their many years of excellent care and compassion given to Bob, as well as Middlesex Hospital Palliative and Hospice Care.
