BALTIC - Richard Raymond Parenteau Age 88, passed away on December 19, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born on December 20, 1932 to the late Theode and Yvonne Parenteau in Providence, RI. Richard was a resident of Norwich for over 39 years before moving to Baltic.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Dorothea Elaine Morrison Parenteau. Richard is survived by his two children three Parenteau Osowski and her husband Todd Osowski of Baltic CT, Leonard Parenteau and his wife Wendy Michaud of Groveland FL. Richard was also blessed with four grandchildren, Misty Ranucci and her husband Justin of Lisbon, C.T., Amanda Osowski and fiancé Blake Wawrzynowicz of Lisbon C.T., Jesse Michaud of Raleigh N.C.; and Hayley Coates of Orlando, FL., and his three Great-Grandchildren, Elliana, Elias and Ezra whom he adored!
Richard was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S Navy from 1952-1956. Richard was stationed in Washington D.0 at the Naval Gun Factory. His civilian Dept of Defense employment began at Quonset Point Naval Air Station in 1967. Richard relocated his family to Norwich CT in 1973 when transferred to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in New London, CT. He completed 31 years of employment, with his last few years at NUVVC in
Newport RI after the closure of the New London base. He retired on Oct 31, 1998. Richard was very dedicated to his family. He was very generous and always put others first. He enjoyed playing poker card games with his family, flea market's, antiques, game shows, and watching military movies. He often talked of his daily phone calls to his local radio show on WICH. He enjoyed his contributions to the Stu Bryer Show where he loved to reminisce of "The Old Days". He was knighted to "Sir Richard" by Stu Bryer and listeners for all his contributions to the broadcast.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Wednesday December 22, 2021 at Quinebaug River Church, 32 School Street in Jewett City at 6 PM.
