Penny Ann Markham of Moodus CT, passed away Tuesday morning June 22nd, 2021, Colchester CT at the age of 59. After her battle to Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, an extremely rare, degenerative brain disease estimated to strike one in a million people every year.
Penny Ann Markham was born September 14th, 1961, in Middletown CT, to William Ernest Markham and Connie Garafalo Markham. She was raised in East Hampton CT at her family home on chestnut hill. She spent most of her childhood days helping take care of their farm with her siblings and parents, The Markham Homestead latter renamed the Chestnut Hill Gardens. Penny went on to graduate at East Hampton High School in 1980. She went on to work at Arbor Acres Inc with her two sisters and mother, and later went on to work at Brownell & Company, and soon after started her own cleaning business Picture Perfect House Cleaning, and then went on to work for the East Haddam Bored of Ed and was currently a Custodian for the Hale-Ray Middle School, along with her fused glass jewelry making business Penny’s Creations. Penny was always a very hard worker and loved to do as much as possible in her free time. Penny loved tag sales, going to the casino, hiking, camping, spending time at the beach, metal detecting, fairs, and horse races.
Penny is survived by her two daughters Jessica Norton-Krantz 36 of Redrock Arizona, Corie Witherly 27 of Colchester CT, and son John Witherly III 24 of Moodus CT, Mother Connie Markham of Colchester CT, Brother Billy Markham and his wife Susan Markham of Middle Haddam CT, Sister Robin Markham of East Hampton, Sister Debbie Westcott and husband Dave Westcott of East Hampton, and loving boyfriend Chuck Henault of Moodus CT. Along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father, Willam Earnest Markham III, sister Helen “Sis” Markham and brother John G Markham.
