Orlando Ramos, affectionately known as "Lan," was born on October 16, 1961, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, son of Ismael Ramos of Waterbury and the late Belen Monroig. He passed away on October 14, 2024, in Waterbury, Connecticut, just two days shy of his 63rd birthday. Orlando was a dedicated toolsetter by profession, known for his hard work and commitment to his craft.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Ramos of Waterbury, their three children Matthew Ramos, Stephanie Ramos and Nicholas Ramos of Waterbury; a sister Yolanda Colon and her husband George Colon of Waterbury; he was predeceased by his siblings Edward Ramos, Wilfredo Ramos and Evelyn Ramos. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, along with a great nephew.
A lover of the outdoors, Orlando found joy in camping and cherished his time spent at Wilderness Lake Campground, which he considered his favorite place in the world. He was a passionate sports fan, proudly supporting the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Boston Red Sox, as well as the UCONN Men's and Women's Basketball teams. His enthusiasm extended to various sports-related TV shows and the Game Show Network, where he could often be found cheering for his favorite teams.
Orlando had a deep appreciation for rock music and enjoyed listening to his favorite bands. He relished simple pleasures, with sausage and peppers being among his favorite foods. Above all, Orlando loved nothing more than his family, who were central to his life and happiness.Orlando Ramos will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, love for the outdoors, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and the love of those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 16, at First Congregational Church, 222 West Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705.
