Lewis “Ralph” Kleinkauf, Jr.




In Branford on March 10, 2025, Lewis “Ralph” Kleinkauf, Jr., aged 79, passed quietly away in the early morning hours after a brief illness. 

Ralph was born on May 16th, 1945, he was the son of the late Lewis R. Kleinkauf, Sr. and Mildred (Bishop) Kleinkauf. He was raised in Guilford and Madison, moved to Rhode Island for many years, then lived in Clinton, CT, before residing in Branford. 

A Vietnam War veteran from the Army, he served 2 tours in the late ‘60’s, receiving awards of commendation with honorable discharge. 

Ralph worked for the State of RI for 25 years in Social Services. He enjoyed salt water fishing, gardening, and raising his chickens and ducks for many years. 

Mr. Kleinkauf was predeceased by his sister Judith Zalewski and brother Richard Kleinkauf. He was also predeceased by his son Timothy C. (Kleinkauf) Rich. 

He leaves behind his loving daughter Kimberly Jenkins, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, brother-in-law Zigmunt Zalewski, of Guilford, CT, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Tami Kniffin, of Wallingford, CT. 

No services at this time, interment will be private with the family. 

Special thank you to Ark of Branford Hills Healthcare Center for the care they provided for Mr. Kleinkauf during his residency. Donations in his memory can be directed to the Recreation Dept there.
