John E. Saimininkas 1955-2021

John E. Saimininkas, 66 of Coventry CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 14, 2021.


John was a true outdoorsman with a deep passion for fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, concert going, gardening, and wood-splitting – proudly owning the nickname “Farmer John.” John and his wife Arline often set out on the lake for their own fishing competitions as a favorite pastime, sometimes he even won!


Inside you could always find him watching the latest NASCAR race, jamming to Bon Jovi and country music, picking out his next hot rod in the Barrett Jackson auction, or watching the Little House on the Prairie with his daughters in his younger years. John was a free spirit with a strong energy that made everyone around him feel loved, full of laughter and protected; he will forever be remembered this way.


Born January 20, 1955 in Hartford, John is survived by; his loving wife Arline, his “honey” of 27 years, brother-in-law Mike Mailhot and wife Cheryl, daughter Jessica, RN, MSN, and granddaughter’s Aubrianna and Braelynn all of Avon, daughter Carrie McAllister of Glastonbury; his mother Aldona, sister Kristina Jackopsic and husband Gary of West Hartford; nieces and nephews Julie, Joshua, and Victor; Olivia and John Jackopsic, and Lori Hastings – as well as many cousins. Finally, his furry friend Scruffy who brought him joy and comfort.


John was predeceased by his father Vytas, brother Vytas Jr. and niece Jennifer.

A special thank you to the oncology team at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Yale-New Haven at Saint Francis, and the palliative and hospice caregivers of Hartford Healthcare at Home. Services will be private for family members. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either of the aforementioned.
