James (Duke) Williams, 67, of Shelton, CT, passed away on August 19, 2023. Born on February 6, 1956, in Jackson, MS. Jim was an adventurous man who lived life to the fullest. He was known for his loyalty, caring nature, and generosity. Jim was also admired for his intelligence and sense of humor.
Jim is survived by his parents, Finis and Noree Williams of FL; his wife, Debbie Williams of CT; his son, James Williams, and wife Molly Lovelette of VT; his daughter, Brittany Williams and partner Nick Coriano, and granddaughter Autumn of CT; his brothers, Finis Williams of NH and Clay Williams and wife Stacey Williams of CT; his nephews, Taylor Williams of MD and Zachary Williams of CT; his father-in-law, Kenneth Clark II of MA; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Clark III and wife Karen Clark of DE; his nephew, Kenneth Clark IV of CA; his niece, Tara Clark and partner Jon Copenhaver, and daughter Teagan Copenhaver of DE; his uncle, Raymond Williams and wife Barbara of LA; his aunt, Patsy Hawthorne and husband Harry of LA; and his cousins from Louisiana.
Throughout his life, Duke worked in the moving business for 45 years. His dedication and hard work made a lasting impact on his career.
Jim worshipped at Black Rock Church, where he found solace and strength. He cherished his faith and the community he found within the church.In his free time, Jim enjoyed various hobbies. He was an athlete who played football and baseball during his time at Staples High School and Slippery Rock College. Duke was a fan of the Houston Astros and the Tennessee Titans. He took pleasure in driving his Vette and Camaro, as well as riding his Harley. Duke had a deep appreciation for the wildlife of Alaska and loved spending time at the ocean in Cape Cod with his beloved wife, Debbie. He enjoyed attending concerts, traveling to visit relatives, and spending quality time with good friends and neighbors. Jim’s pets over the years~ Doberman Vader, Rottweilers Hannah and Harley, and pug Lola, rescue cats Ziggy, Whiskers and Cleo brought him great joy and companionship.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Black Rock Church, located at 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bridgeport Rescue Mission in honor of Jim’s memory.
Duke James Williams will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His adventurous spirit, faith, loyalty, and kindness will forever be remembered.
