Florina ‘Flo’ (Daigle) Flechner, 90, of Middletown, beloved wife of Charles Flechner of 66 years, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in New Canada Plantation, ME on September 20, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Catherine (Daigle) and Rene Daigle. Her family moved to Hartford where she attended Hartford High until graduation.
She worked as a clerk typist at Pratt and Whitney Small Tool in West Hartford until the birth of her only child in 1968.
One of the most important aspects of Flo's life was her faith. She was an active parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church for over 50 years. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, a Bingo worker, cake booth chairperson at the annual fall fair and team leader of the Share program.
She enjoyed yearly vacations with her family, bowling and keeping her house clean. She loved daily phone conversations with her friends, who called to check in and chat. Her profound presence on this earth, of love, kindness, devotion and generosity can never be replaced. She will be missed not only by her family, but everyone she touched over her 90 years.
Besides her husband, Flo is survived by her daughter Susan Flechner of Middletown. She also leaves behind her nephew Michael Daigle, her nieces Debbie Daigle and Sharon Daigle and grandniece Monica Daigle.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the palliative care unit at Middlesex Hospital for their compassion and support. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown on Saturday, September 23rd at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Flo's memory may be made online to Middlesex Hospice donate@midhosp.org.
