Edward “Ed” Walter Thomas 1937-2019

Formerly of Waterbury - Edward “Ed” Walter Thomas, age 81, died peacefully on February 23, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.


Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother he is survived by his wife of many years, Phyllis. He also leaves, a sister, Anne Ervin of Hampton, VA, five children, Edward "Chip" Thomas of Woodbridge, VA, Sharon (John) Misiek (with whom he resided) of Enfield, CT, Lisa (Gary) O'Neill of Tall Timbers, MD, Lauren (Howard) O'Neil of Bristol, CT, Christopher (Debbie) Thomas of Waterbury CT. Affectionately called G-Dad by his grandchildren, he leaves 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


Born in Middleboro, MA, he was a graduate of Penn State with a degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management. He was employed as the Associate Director of Food Services at both St Raphael’s Hospital and MasonicCare before his retirement.


Ed was known for his love of family, sense of humor, and his engaging personality. We will keep wonderful memories of good times close in our hearts.


A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael’s Church at 62 St. Michael Drive, Waterbury CT at 10:00am Saturday, 09 March 2019. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
