Diane Carol Stencel (Ducas) Pease, 68, of Griswold, passed away due to cancer on October 9, 2022 at Backus Hospital, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Arlene Stencel.
A lifelong resident of the area, Diane was a member of the Norwich Free Academy class of 1972 and a 1994 graduate of Three Rivers Community College. She spent several years as a casino security supervisor. She was most recently a dedicated provider of home health services who loved her clients. An artist, she was one with the ocean and nature. Her spiritual and positive outlook will be remembered fondly by many friends.
She is survived by her daughters Monique Ducas, Jeannette Trehy, and Jocelyne Ducas as well as her step-children Debbie Krug and Leo Ducas, Jr. Other surviving family members include siblings David Stencel of Alaska, Alan Stencel and Sandra Renfree of Plainfield, eight grandchildren, four nieces and two nephews.

My friend, not only will I miss your presence, I will also miss your characteristic traits!! You were funny, (I can still hear your laugh) thoughtful, caring, creative, cheerful, trustworthy, wise and most of all, my favorite, honest to the core which is so rare to find these days so, thank you for that!! You simply made people a better person, to see the best and be the best them, that they could be. You were so much more. Thank you Diane, for being you.
