Clarence James Perry, Jr.

Clarence James Perry, Jr. (commonly known as, Perry) 76, of Wethersfield CT. passed away on March 7, 2025, in Windsor Locks, CT surrounded by family. Born April 19, 1948, to the late Clarence James Perry, Sr. and Lilla Mae Perry in Jacksonville, FL. and raised in Hartford, Connecticut. Clarence attended Hartford Public High School and served in the United States Army.  He was a man whose life was defined by his love for adventure, family, God, and service to others. His faith in God led him to Latter Rain Christian Fellowship Church in Hartford Connecticut where he frequently attended, and rededicated himself to God.

A passionate traveler, He embraced the world with a curiosity and energy that led him to explore many countries and cultures throughout his life. His journeys were not only a means of discovery but also a way for him to connect with people from all walks of life, always seeking to learn and grow from every experience.

An avid tennis player, Clarence spent countless hours on the court, driven by his love for the game and his competitive spirit - it was there he excelled and forged lasting friendships. His quick reflexes and sharp mind were matched only by his ability to inspire and encourage others, especially those he mentored as a tennis instructor.

Outside of tennis, he was an enthusiast of outdoor activities. Whether hiking through nature’s trails, biking on scenic routes, or simply reading about new adventures, he loved spending time in the great outdoors, where he found peace and inspiration. His love for nature was a reflection of his appreciation for life's simple yet profound pleasures.

Professionally, he devoted many years to working as an EMT, demonstrating unwavering compassion and dedication to helping others. He was always ready to offer assistance, even in the most challenging situations, with a calm demeanor and a caring heart that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the communities he served.

He was the father of three children, Reginald (Dalia Ghanesh) May of Bloomfield, CT., Angela Perry of Atlanta, GA., and Jason Perry of Seattle, WA. He was also a grandfather of four: Reginald Y. May, Ashod G. May, Ronald Jabriel Robinson (Jah), and Adiya N.J. May; great-grandfather to Jahlia and Cari.

Clarence was also a cherished sibling - he was the eldest of nine children, predeceased by his brother Kenneth Perry. He leaves behind three brothers: Christopher Perry of Florence, MA., Peter Perry of East Hartford, CT., and Zachary Williams of Meriden, CT.; sisters: Vonzell Thomas of Windsor, CT., Janis Jones (Mark) Strange of East Granby, CT., Cindy (Harry) Moody of Guyton, GA., and Olymphia (James ) Womack of Newington, CT. — whose bonds of love and support were a source of strength for him throughout his life, and especially during his illness. He also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and family. Clarence leaves behind an awesome friend community (whom he considered family) in all the lands he traversed.

May he rest in peace, his memory forever cherished by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
