Carmela Ippolito, 93, passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2020. Carmela (“Millie”) Ippolito (nee, Colagioia) was predeceased by her husband Salvatore (Sal) Ippolito in 2008. She leaves behind her sons Richard and David of Waterford, CT; and Peter (Christine) of Medford, NJ and grandchildren Stephen, Allison, and Lauren. She is survived by her sister, Josephine Jones of Quaker Hill, CT and predeceased by siblings Julia and Nicolas.
Millie was born, grew up, married, and raised her family in the Bronx, NY. She and Sal moved with their sons to Waterford in the early 1980s, but Carmela never lost her connection to her New York upbringing. She was always delighted to receive “real” Italian bread from the Bronx, gifted by visiting friends and family, and kept her radio tuned to New York news stations.
Millie will be remembered as a loving mother and doting grandmother, and for making countless pots of her ‘famous’ chicken soup over the years, much to the delight of her grandchildren. Although she is no longer with us, Millie’s love and memories will remain in our hearts forever.
