Beverly C. Jones of Rocky Hill, CT formerly of Johnson City and Endicott, NY passed peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, H. Lansing Jones, in 2015. She is survived by her sons and their wives Bruce and Deborah of West Hartford, CT, David and Anne Marie of Binghamton, NY, and William and Pam of Cromwell, CT. She was predeceased by her son Carl in 1977. She has nine grandchildren: Sabrina and Sean Donnelly, Sara Meghan Jones, Rachael and Edward James, Charlotte Jones, Russell Jones, Morgan Jones, Reed Jones, Bruce Jones, and Luke Jones; three great-grandchildren: Mia Jones, Isabella Donnelly, and Jackson Donnelly; four nephews and two nieces. She was predeceased by her sisters, Dorris Hopper and Claudia Ingram.
She was born on October 25, 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama as the oldest daughter of the late Claude R. Clingman and Ruth R. Clingman McTyre. After completing high school in New Orleans, Beverly went to the University of Michigan where she found her future husband, H. Lansing Jones. They were married on September 8, 1949 in New Orleans. In 1957, they moved from Kingston, NY to a permanent home in Endicott, NY for her husband’s job at IBM. Beverly was busy with four boys, working as a bookkeeper at an accounting firm, and activities at The First Presbyterian Church of Endicott where she eventually became an elder. Beverly and Lans loved spending time with family and friends as well as skiing, hiking, traveling, and sailing. There will be a friends and family service at the First Congregational Church of Cromwell at 355 Main Street in Cromwell, CT on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Beverly C. Jones can be made to CHOW, 3 Otseningo Street, Binghamton, NY 13903 OR the Endicott Preschool at 29 Grant Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
