Barbara Schmitt, age 65, passed away on September 5th, 2020. Barbara was born on January 30th, 1955, in Marshfield Wisconsin to Eleanor “Boots” and James Brusky.
Barbara loved to nurture. She ensured numerous bird feeders were always full, her gardens weeded, flowers watered, and stray cats taken in and cared for. Most of all, she nurtured those in her life, especially her grandchildren. While frugal in pocket, she was generous in love and her time. She will be remembered by her four grandchildren for making their annual Halloween costumes with the utmost love and care in each stitch.
She had careers at the Marshfield Clinic and the Community Renewal Team. She always found her work meaningful no matter the job but cherished the relationships she built through those jobs to be the most important.
Her life was full of activity, her hands always busy and her heart full. Barbara is survived by her father, James Brusky; her sons, Michael Schmitt (wife Abby and their daughters Natalie and Mallory) and Matthew Schmitt (wife Nicole and their sons Daniel and William); her significant other Michael Mahoney (and his daughter Maureen); her former spouse Daniel Schmitt; her brothers, Warren Rhyner (wife Mary); and Michael Brusky; and sister Cynthia Cullen; her aunt Patty; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by her mother, “Boots” and sister Theresa “Teri” Lester.
Dates for celebrations of life are to be determined, one near her home in Vernon, CT and one in Marshfield, WI.
