Attorney Jay Christopher Lyons, 74, peacefully entered heaven on March 31, 2025, in Wallingford, Connecticut. Born on September 14, 1950, in Norwich, Connecticut, Jay lived a life marked by dedication to justice, deep spirituality, and unwavering commitment to those he served.
Jay graduated from Fairfield University in 1972 with an A.B. degree and later earned his Juris Doctor from New York Law School in 1982. That same year, he was admitted to the Connecticut Bar Association and subsequently joined the New York Bar Association in 1984. With a strong foundation in law and a passion for advocacy, Jay established his own law firm where he practiced for many years. His areas of expertise included Elder Law, Juvenile Law, Bankruptcy, Social Security Disability and Probate matters that reflected a career devoted to helping individuals navigate some of life’s most challenging circumstances.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jay was known for his profound spiritual devotion. A man of deep faith, he held a special reverence for the Virgin Mary and made a pilgrimage to Medjugorje—a testament to the central role spirituality played in his life.
Jay was part of a large and loving family. He is fondly remembered by his brothers: Reverend Timothy Lyons OFM Conv. and Doug Lyons; and his sisters: Mary Krentzman(Jack),
Martha Desrosiers, Joan Plavnicky(Richard) and Elizabeth Finelli(Edward). He was predeceased by his loving parents, John F. Lyons Jr. and Rhea A. Lyons.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10:30 AM in Saint Lawrence Church, located at 505 Shelton Avenue in Shelton, Connecticut.
May Jay’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and may his legacy of service and faith continue to inspire all whose lives he touched.
