Ann Victoria (Orzechowski) Garrity July 6, 1943 - March 6, 2019
The family is saddened to announce that Ann Garrity passed away March 6th surrounded by her family, following a long fought illness. She was the wife of the late J. Robert (Bob) Garrity.
Ann was born in Taunton, Mass, daughter of the late Theodore Jacob Orzechowski and Celine Marie (Arsenault) Orzechowski.
She graduated from St. Jakes Elementary, Taunton High and Cape Cod School of Nursing. She was a nurse at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass,
Ann married Bob on August 7, 1965 at Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia, NY. They then began their married life in Waterbury, CT where together they became life-long residents.
Ann worked as a Special Education Paraprofessional for 24 years for the city of Waterbury. She also worked for the Institute of Professional Practice and Northwest Home Care Inc caring for others. She enjoyed volunteering her time over the years with the Roaring 20's Car Club, The Special Olympics, The Girls Scouts of America and The Waterbury Democratic Party.
Ann was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew her. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Theodore Orzechowski, her sister-in-law Faith Ann (Garrity) Meehan and her brother-in-law William Francis Garrity. She is survived by her brother Mark Joseph Orzechowski and his wife Laurie (Tuttle) Orzechowski, her brother-in-law John Meehan, her two sons, J. Robert (Rob) Garrity II and his wife Anna Tereza (Debarros) Garrity of East Haddam, Scott Robert Garrity of Waterbury, and her daughter, Laura Ann (Garrity) Berch and her Husband Todd G. Berch of Middletown, nieces Christina Marie Orzechowski, Amy (Meehan) Roxburgh, Kathy (Garrity-Murphy) Sweeny, nephews Robert Theodore Orzechowski Jr, Brian (Garrity) Murphy, John Meehan II, Robert Meehan and two very dear grandsons Ethan Ryan Garrity and Cameron Jai Garrity.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 12:00 pm at St. Michael's Church, 62 Michaels Drive, Waterbury. Family and friends will be received at the church at 11:30 am.
