Anita L. (Sheldon) Schmidt

Anita L. (Sheldon) Schmidt of South Windsor, CT, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on March 4, 2025 at the age of 89. Anita was born April 27, 1935 in Hartford, Connecticut.Anita was predeceased by her cherished husband, Rodney Schmidt Sr. and four of her children: Linda D’Anzi, Ron Barrett, Gary Barrett and Robert Schmidt.She leaves behind her children, Thora Boudreau of South Windsor, CT, Deborah Szymkiewicz of Norwich, CT, Rodney and Darla Schmidt of Georgia, Steven and Carol Schmidt of Plainville, CT, Laura and Howard Heslin of Plainville, CT, Joseph and Denise Schmidt of Vernon, CT and Keith Schmidt Sr. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and her fur babies, Inky and Bella.She worked at Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford in her younger years and later worked as a bartender for over 20 years. While working for Franco American War Veterans of Hartford, she became the president of the ladies auxiliary.Anita loved to sing, she sang in a few bands in her 30s and even cut a few 45 records. She loved crocheting blankets, traveling, playing bingo, going to the beach, watching old movies and coloring on her tablet.Her love will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate to know her.A gravesite memorial service will be on Monday, April 28th at 11:00 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Followed by a celebration of her 90th birthday and her life at the Berry Patch Clubhouse in South Windsor.
