Allan R. Crittenden, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Fox Hill Center in Vernon, CT.
Allan was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 25, 1939, the son of the late Ray and Dorothy (Brod) Crittenden. After graduating from John Marshall High School, he attended Purdue University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. The majority of his professional career was at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT. After leaving UTC he retired from The Travelers Insurance Company.
Allan’s activities included running, bicycling, and triathlons. He enjoyed volunteering as a host and running in the annual Manchester Road Race. Allan was a member and President of both the Silk City Striders and the Connecticut Purdue University Alumni Club. Later while working at Travelers, he was a member of the Travelers Bicycle Club and Choral Group.
Allan is survived by his former wife, Mary Crittenden of Manchester; children Janet Daigle (Brian) of Vernon and Scott Crittenden (Kim Davis) of New Britain; grandchildren Alicia Daigle, B Daigle, and Kelley Crittenden; sister Nancy Liedlich of Southbury; and several nieces and nephews.
As per Allan’s wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes scattered at the same location as his parents. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to an animal shelter or rescue in memory of Allan’s love for dogs.
